OFFICE
Mater Dei School has renovated the 50th Anniversary Memorial Building into a multi-purpose gymnasium for a variety of uses including basketball, volleyball, share ball, badminton as well as exhibitions, teaching, training, and other recreation activities. The school has special requirements for the lighting system used in the multi-purpose gymnasium as follows;
- Must have an appropriate brightness value for student sports (200-300 lux) and/or school activities other than sports (500-600 lux).
- It does not produce glare like the original Floodlight system installed on the mezzanine floor, both on the left and right sides of the gymnasium.
- Energy saving, low heat generated and long service life.
NOTES:
- Brightness for non-televised basketball events is 200 lux.
- The brightness used in normal classroom teaching and learning is 400-500 lux.
SYSTEMS & SOLUTIONS:
Despite located in girls school's multi-purpose gymnasium, Mater Dei's basketball court has a standard size of 420 sqm (15 m wide and 28 m long) while the height from the ground to the roof beams is about 7 meters.
Installing Philips SmartBright Slim Panel (RC091V LED27S/865 PSU G3) 30*120 cm, 40 watts, 30000 life hours, 6500K Cool White and CRI >80 along the length of the roof beams can provide soft light, reducing glare and reflection on the ground.
SERVICES:
- Introduce lighting system that solves glare problems and advise on the installation that meets the needs of multi-purpose gymnasiums.
- Calculate the right number of luminaires and simulate light distribution to see the brightness/lux level and Unified Glare Rating (UGR) before installation.
- Measure actual lux levels after the installation
